He had a great admiration for the work of Mozart (whose death occurred the year of his birth) - at his first public concert in Vienna, he played Concerto No. 24 (K491). It was at the request of Father Maximilian Stadler, a renowned composer and pianist, that he wrote this transcription for piano for 4 hands of Requiem K626 in D minor, published by Diabelli in 1827.
